I watched a little bit of it last night. It didn't exactly grab me, but it's not the first episode, so I don't know a lot about what's going on. (I've only seen the first couple episodes of the original, and who knows how closely the new one follows it anyway.) I think it's supposed to be an American accent, but even not knowing what region it's supposed to be from, I think it's pretty shaky. Or maybe I'm so used to his DW English and natural Scottish that it's hard to reconcile such a different one coming out of his mouth. (Although I think John Simm's in Intruders works OK.) Honestly, I had no sense of his usual charm. Maybe the character's supposed to be cold and inaccessible?

On the other hand, David Tennant narrated the recent multipart KBS nature special about penguins, Spy in the Huddle, in his beautiful Scottish. Now that was a joy to listen to. (Penguins + David = <3 <3, anyway.)
