• Sun, 16:00: Landlord said he'd text the plumber but he didn't know whether the guy'd come out on a Sunday. Smart man.
• Sun, 17:30: I've realized this isn't a headcold but the mostly annual keep-me-home-from-work-a-day seasonal allergy attack.
• Mon, 09:08: locked myself out of the house AND the running car this time

Ouch; I once locked myself out of my running car at a Tollway oasis.

Fortunately I was on the cellphone with my landlord at the time, who had a man nearby who is "kind of a locksmith"; which means he came over, tried and failed to open the door with a credit card, and broke in through a window (no actual breaking of glass involved).

Ah, "security consultation". And now, you have to make sure you secure the windows. (And put a key somewhere.)

The thing is, after locking myself out Easter Sunday evening I've been carrying two each house and car keys, just so this can't happen. But this morning I was sick and called out of the house early in a rush, and didn't grab all my keys. Then when I was pulling up to the house when the landlord returned my call about the plumber coming today, and I got out of the car without noticing that it was still running. It is measure of how frayed and fried I am right now that I have locked myself out of my house four times in my life that I remember and two of them were this month.

After I locked myself out of the house the second or third time, I reconsidered where I was leaving my keys and found a new place for them where I would be sure to see them on the way out the door, and could grab them without having to go out of my way.

(These days, in fact, I leave the house key stuck in the actual lock on the inside of the door. I find that handy, but mileage may vary, especially if your door doesn't have a lock on the inside.)
