You know, the only thing about this which annoyed me in the movie was that Spock's decision to post Uhura aboard another ship rather than the Enterprise (which he a) knew she was qualified for and b) new she wanted) demonstrated that he was, in fact, making an emotional decision. There is nothing logical about denying her the post she deserves just because (it seems) everyone knows they're involved.
