Watched Earthshock tonight, DVRed from Iowa Public TV's airing last night, and so was reminded of this one. Set during the Babylon 5 episode Day of the Dead.
Wait, Iowa Public TV is airing pre-2000 DOCTOR WHO?
Time to write to my local PBS station. When I suggested last year that they stretch out "new" WHO with "old" in order to establish a weekly time slot, I was told that BBC had embargoed everything except the new series from everybody, everywhere. Either that situation has changed, or it wasn't the whole story.
Looking it up, I see they've been airing Davison & Baker by job lots. We need this in Texas!
There was a period in 2005-2006 when PBS stations weren't being allowed to renew their contracts, presumably because BBC Enterprises were hoping to sell 20th century Doctor Who to more lucrative markets packaged with the new stuff. Two stations, Iowa Public TV and the PBS network in Maryland, never stopped airing it because their contracts didn't run out during this period. Since about mid 2007 BBC Enterprises appears to have given up trying to package all Doctor Who for national cable rerun channels, and more PBS stations are picking it up again.
