I did a Black Lives Matter protest. I stood on the side of Center Street with a sign in the crowd for an hour before my legs and feet gave out. At the top the organizers said there wouldn't be any blocking the street but, half an hour in, somebody came around and said, "We said we're not doing this but we're doing this," and some of us did it it and the guy who gave us the pep talk at the beginning found a bullhorn and was all, "GET OUT OF THE STREET. GET OUT OF THE STREET." You couldn't help but notice that the person who came around saying to do it was a white guy. When you're looking for something that's been ruined, follow a white man. Across the street or across the continent.
