needful things

After we had lunch at the new diner and discovered we were running too late to get glasses adjusted at the optician's on a Saturday, we went to the bookstore.

They didn't have what we were ostensibly looking for because they didn't after all have a comics section. But I picked up a couple of things, though nothing I hadn't read before. I replaced the Once and Future King that went missing in the car theft. Also, during the early years of my family life I sold off my original print of the Watchmen minseries so I picked up the graphic novel. And qtrhorserider got the John Adams biography she's been meaning to read for years, even before it was made into the HBO miniseries with Paul Giamatti*.

Then we went to the department store and picked up a wastebasket each for the living room and the master bedroom.

So today we accomodated physical needs and spiritual needs.

* Though to me the face of John Adams will always be William Daniels'.
