Henry Jenkins is an MIT media studies professor and Star Trek fan whose quotebytes on the societal and personal worth of fanfiction have appeared in email sigs all over the internet for longer than I've been online. He has a blog, and in there there's a fascinating recent entry mostly by his son - Henry Jenkins IV, himself a recent graduate in media studies - on reality tv fanfiction.
