This day in scarfman history
Aug. 17th, 2006 04:04 pmOn August 17, 1997 I posted the first of four chapters of the initial story in a series of Doctor Who/Star Trek crossovers posted to alt.drwho.creative and alt.startrek.creative. I had been posting short and short-short pieces to both Usenet newsgroups for about a year and a half by then, including "vignettizations" of fanfiction paper Dailies, a series of Doctor Who "satire episodes", and a five-part Doctor Who/X-Files crossover the previous May. But I pretty much regard the posting of the first chapter of this story - the first of a weekly string of crossover story chapter postings that would last, prose and comic strip, until January 2000 when the online Dailies went to daily stand-alone gags - as the founding of the fanfiction crossover multiverse which I still use. And which started me on the road to Arthur, King of Time and Space, since - some years later - this was also the first story in which I globally replaced the franchises' proper nouns with Arthurian proper nouns.
So here's that chapter.
