The next Doctor Who has been named: Ncuti Gatwa, best known for a role on the Netflix sitcom Sex Education. He's so many firsts for the role:

He's black.
He's Scottish ... but born in Rwanda.
He's LGBTQ+.

And he's the first Doctor Who younger than both my kids.

One day this week I realized I went all day without drawing anything and to see how doing a sketch first thing every morning works out. I posted the first one to Facebook but decided I'd switch off between my social media.

Season 2018 of Doctor Who definitely has hit some sour notes but I think maybe some people who dislike it are just reacting to that the style of Chibnall’s Doctor Who contrasts much more with his predecessor’s than his predecessor’s did, or even his predecessor’s. I don’t think we’ve had a showrunner’s style contrast quite so striking to his predecessor’s since 1996.

And if that’s your dislike you’re entitled to it. I like to say that those of us who love Doctor Who because it turns into a new show every few years ought to be the last ones to get surprised and angry when there are other people who don’t care for more than one or two of them.

I thought I was going to finalize my move from LJ to DW* over the weekend, but the combination of the Doctor Who season premiere and an unusual amount of stairs and stooping on Saturday wiped me out. Next weekend then.

*I should be able to refer to Dreamwidth as "DW" without confusing anyone because I never call Doctor Who that.
