I think Indy would have just shut the door again and pretended he'd never seen anything. Not so much because this was in the area of "Things Man Was Not Meant To Know", but more because there's a limit to the amount of paperwork a given person is willing to deal with, for ANY situation. Why hasn't Arthur come back from Avalon yet? He doesn't want to have to deal with Inland Revenue.
